- A programme manager who is responsible for leading the project, monitoring progress, making stop/go decisions, pulling all the strands together, and maintaining the big picture perspective.
- Project leads per work-stream. Project leads are responsible for conducting the research and analysis, assimilating the findings, and writing up the business opportunity. (A work-stream could be characterised by a market area, technology platform, legal and regulatory study, M&A analysis, and so on.)
- Analysts to conduct market research and analysis.
- Part-time project members and internal subject-matter experts to provide technical input and specialist insight. Look for ways to include diverse perspectives by including people with different outlooks, e.g., people from R&D, design, marketing, IT, operations, finance. They will become part of an expanding community who buy into the project and will help to spread the word.
On a final note, make sure you have a balance of female and male participants. If all you see are men in suits, then you need to rethink the composition if you want to achieve a positive result.
